Lifestyle trends and Innovation within the Fashion Industry?

What is a lifestyle trend?
I think, a lifestyle trend is a trend that is incorporated or used in everyday life. When I first thought of the term, I thought of utilitarian clothing, for example; farm clothing. This is worn as a uniform almost but for work, and for comfort and productivity. The I thought about more of a 'trend'. I have noticed, that every time I go to farming events, or hunt events, etc. a lot of the attendees are wearing similar clothing and brands; brands like Barbour and Hunter, materials like, Corduroy and Tweed.
I think that a lot of these similar things are worn as it is a trend within the community, the brands mentioned are pretty expensive and I guess by wearing them, it shows the people that recognise these brands that they are doing well but they also look like they are wearing smart casual work wear. It is hard to explain in this example. But I guess it refers back to subcultures, clothing, accessories and trends in general that work within those groups. Thinking of a really bad example, the 'Chav' culture. I would say that any follow a fashion I have seen groups/gangs who dress similarly; i.e - a white tracksuit or shell suit, running trainers, a cheap silver or gold chain around neck and wrist and maybe some silver and gold cheap emblem rings, maybe an earring and some slits in the eyebrow to finish of the look. I have honestly seen this look on 3 or 4 people and they almost look like clones of each other as that is obviously a 'trend' within that stereotypical group.

However, moving on from subcultures, because even though things might be trendy in those groups, they are not necessarily following a trend that is recognised throughout western society. I googled lifestyle trends and some really good examples came up. One of which was denim jeans,
this is a major lifestyle trend that has been around for decades and unites both men and women, it can be worn casually. a little more smartly, worker day wear, etc, etc. So versatile, there are many different types and so many ways you can wear them. These have really been adopted into our society and are well recognised as a staple in the wardrobe.

Who in the fashion industry is innovative?
There are many, many people in the fashion industry who I think are innovative, but I would have to say one good example would be Kate Moss.
Kate Moss scouted
Models, at the time she was scouted, were thought to be really glamorous and perfectly beautiful, however Kate was very ordinary looking. This approach was so fresh to have a very young, innocent, fresh faced, and quite frankly, plain looking girl, modelling these very extravagant and expensive garments was really innovative and she
Cara Delevingne
definitely changed the industry in terms of modelling as if you were to look at the models now-a-days, yeah a lot of them are the typical 'beauty' (supermodels) but the majority are people like Cara Delevinge, Georgia May Jagger, who are of course, pretty, but also could just be your average girl walking down the high street. I think they are almost more relate-able even though they are modelling all of these extravagant clothing and accessories.
